PD at Findlay Market: History, Entrepreneurship, and Economics for Teachers – March 13, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM (ET) (In-Person)


The Alpaugh Scholars Program, from the Alpaugh Family Economics Center, will present an on-site in-person workshop at Findlay Market (1801 Race St, Cincinnati, OH 45202) on Wednesday, March 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. (Light refreshments will be provided.)

Step into the rich history and entrepreneurial spirit of Cincinnati’s Findlay Market during this two-hour workshop. Discover the market’s role in local economic development, food business entrepreneurship, and how to connect these topics to financial literacy and economics in your classroom. Learn from experts and fellow teachers, and develop the skills to inspire your students with a blend of local history, economic concepts, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Workshop Overview:

  • Historical Walking Tour & Tasting (30 minutes): Explore the market’s history, significance, and vision for the future. Enjoy a culinary treat from one of six diverse food merchants.
  • Introduction to Findlay Learn (30 minutes): Discover Findlay Learn, an initiative that provides food business education to entrepreneurs. Learn how it aligns with the market’s values of economic growth, community, and inclusivity.
  • Curriculum Overview (30 minutes): Review curriculum resources focused on entrepreneurship, economics, and financial literacy.
  • Wrap-Up and Feedback (20 minutes): Collaborate with fellow educators, reflect on key takeaways, ask questions, and provide feedback for future sessions.

This workshop is part of the Alpaugh Scholars 2023-2024 PD series, which is made possible by the Alpaugh Family Foundation. For attending three of the four in-person workshops, educators can receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
