The Alpaugh Scholars Program, from the Alpaugh Family Economics Center, will present an on-site in-person workshop at Cincinnati’s American Sign Museum on Wednesday, October 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. (Light refreshments will be provided.)
Located in the artsy Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati, the American Sign Museum is home to the history of American signage over the last century. The Museum is the largest public museum dedicated to signs in the United States! Using signs from the Museum’s collection, teachers will be presented with an interactive lesson that teaches about the concept of inflation and its causes and effects. Traveling back in time to 1963 when a burger cost just 15 cents, students connect budgets, pricing, and market trends through immersive activity and group discussion. (Supports: OLS Social Studies, OLS Math, OLS Financial Literacy, Common more speaking/listening.)
Attending educators will receive a FREE museum gallery tour (typically a $10 entrance fee) and an inflation lesson demo. Educators will also receive a demo of the Center’s $martPath curriculum, including new features such as the availability to present in Spanish and platform accessibility improvements.
This workshop is part of the Alpaugh Scholars 2023-2024 PD series, which is made possible by the Alpaugh Family Foundation. For attending three of the four in-person workshops, educators can receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
